James Sandmire (1930 - 1989)

James Earl Sandmire was born on March 5, 1930 in Oklahoma. He died on May 12, 1989, in San Francisco, CA.

Jim was the second pastor of the Metropolitan Community Church (MCC) of San Francisco from 1971 to 1975, and served as an elected Elder to the denomination. He later bacame the third MCC Pastor of Los Angeles, where he served from 1975 to 1977.

In 1980 Jim established the Golden Gate MCC where he served until he passed away in 1989. He left behind his loving partner, Jack Hubbs.

Jim was the father of Dean Sandmire, who died of AIDS-related complications in 1987.
