Brent Harris (1938 - 1981)
Brent Tommy Harris was born December 18, 1938 in Ogden, Utah to Thomas and Flo Harris. He died from AIDS complications on June 4, 1981 in San Francisco, California at the age of 42. Brent was the Associate Editor of the Advocate from 1976 until his death. Brent had been a close friend of Robert McQueen when they both lived in Salt Lake City. When Robert was hired by David B. Goodstein to be editor-in-chief, Robert brought Brent on board, where he became one of the main figures in the Advocate's team humorously known as the "Mormon Mafia". Brent was the first person on the Advocate staff to die from this disease and the issue after his death was dedicated to his memory.
