Last month we were able to march in the Portland Pride Parade and welcomed cheers and laughs from the crowd who seemed to enjoy our funny signs. For July, we're going to have a bbq potluck dinner at Alan Blodgett's home. Thanks Alan! (And please read below for important details about the 2009 Affirmation Conference.) WHAT: Affirmation BBQ Potluck Dinner WHEN: Sunday, July 26th at 6:00 p.m. WHERE: Alan Blodgett's home - 215 SW Hamilton St. (Portland, OR 97239) WHO: You, your partners, family, and friends WHAT TO BRING: Something to bbq and a dinner (side) dish or dessert dish to share with the group HEAT: It's supposed to be a hot day, but spending it in Alan's shaded backyard will certainly help. Also, I'll bring plenty of cold drinks (and I'm considering bringing my smoothie machine for blended treats.) ?s: Please email me back or call me any time at 971-409-3463. Or you could call Alan at 503-781-3052. DIRECTIONS: Hamilton crosses Barber Blvd (between Downtown Portland and ****, and the home is on the West side of Barber. From 26E or I-5S (or Downtown Portland): Get onto the West side of the 405 heading South; take Exit 1C toward 6th Ave./Ross Island Bridge; follow South as it jogs onto Sheridan; Right on Barber Blvd; Right on SW Hamilton St. End at 215 SW Hamilton. From I-5N: From I-5N, take the Corbett Ave. Exit (#298); Left onto Corbett; Left onto SW Hamilton St.; Left on Barber Blvd.; Right onto SW Hamilton St. September 18 - 20th will be the 2009 Affirmation Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. Conferences are always a lot of fun to attend, and you'll get to meet great Affirmation people from all over the country (and world). Now is the time to plan, make travel arrangements, hotel accomodations, etc. There is a great program planned, including a live Jason & DeMarco Concert, and speakers like Carl Sciortino (gay Massachussetts State Rep.) and Chad Hardy (Men on a Mission calendar creator). If you register for the conference by August 22, the conference registration is $159 (and it goes up after that.) If you are a student, unemployed, or a first time conference attendee, the conference registration is $139 (if you register by Sept. 5), and there are also scholarships available.
