Affirmation: LGBTQ Mormons, Families & Friends is now accepting applications for the Senior Vice President (SVP) position on our Executive Committee.
This is a volunteer leadership role (approximately 6–10 hours per week) that helps guide the vision, governance, and day-to-day momentum of our global community. The Senior Vice President is appointed by the President and confirmed by the Board of Directors, as outlined in our bylaws and volunteer job description.

What You’ll Do
Key responsibilities include:

Executive partnership:
Collaborate regularly with the President and Executive Committee; support the President in executive duties and, when delegated, serve as acting President. -
Governance & policy:
Work with Board committees and the Director of Operations to draft and review policies (e.g., DEI, compliance, harassment, travel), support sound governance, and help ensure legal and ethical compliance. -
Committee & regional leadership:
Chair or co-chair designated standing or area committees and help assess and support regional, chapter, and affinity group structures to keep our communities healthy and connected. -
Board engagement:
Serve as an ex officio member of the Board of Directors, participate in monthly Board meetings (virtual or in person), and help maintain momentum on Board and committee action items between meetings. -
Ambassador role:
Represent Affirmation internally and externally as a visible leader and advocate for our mission—supporting relationships with volunteers, partners, donors, and other stakeholders.
Time commitment:

Approximately 6–10 hours per week, including preparation and follow-up

Required attendance at monthly Board meetings
- Required attendance at weekly executive committee meetings

Additional committee, area, or task force meetings as assigned

Has solid financial acumen and respect for transparency, accountability, and good stewardship

Communicates clearly, listens well, and can work across cultures, languages, and generations

Is committed to equity, inclusion, and cultural humility in a global, multilingual context

Works collaboratively with Board members, volunteers, and staff/contractors

Demonstrates integrity, follow-through, and a willingness to keep learning and growing in the role

Location & Time Zone
This is a remote volunteer role. Executive Committee and Board meetings are scheduled in North American Mountain Time (MT). To participate fully, you’ll need to be regularly available for live meetings in that time zone.
This schedule is usually most sustainable for people living within about 3–4 hours of Mountain Time (for example, Pacific, Central, Eastern, and parts of South America). Applicants in other time zones are welcome to apply, but should be prepared for meetings that may fall very early or very late in their local time.
