Hawaii Marriage Campaign and Anti-Gay Ads Now Online
NEWS from the Human Rights Campaign

October, 1998

Anti-gay forces in Hawaii veered onto the low road this week in their campaign against same-gender marriage. They began running a 30-second ad featuring a little boy sitting in a living room, reading a copy of the illustrated book, "Daddy's Wedding." The ad is meant to scare voters and panders to racial divisions in the islands.

Protect Our Constitution, the local group fighting the anti-gay initiative, has developed a series of ads featuring prominent state political leaders warning voters about the amendment. The ad campaign will cost $1 million to execute. They need your help!

View both sides' ads on HRC's Online Action Center — http://www.hrc.org — and if possible, help Protect Our Constitution fund the ad campaign. There's an easy-to-use form online.
