The May 2002 issue of Diversity Newsmagazine focuses on Gay and Lesbian Mormons. Affirmation, Gamofites, and Family Fellowship are some of the groups featured by the Idaho magazine, which can be found online at http://www.gayidaho.com/diversity

The issue includes an interview with Family Fellowship leaders Millie and Gary Watts. “I really feel like the church misses out by losing these gay people,” says Millie Watts. “They are wonderful people. So many of them are so talented. It is just a tragedy that the church loses out on [them].”

The parents of a gay son and a lesbian daughter, the Watts will be the keynote speakers at a Pride Rally on the steps of the Idaho Capitol Building on July 13, 2002 (for more information about this event, go to http://www.yffn.org/pride/index.html ). The magazine editor acknowledges that “speaking with Gary & Millie and coordinating this piece for Diversity Newsmagazine is the most rewarding experience in three years as Editor of this publication.”

“Mormons are a strong faith group here in Idaho,” says the magazine. “It's about time we put a light on the struggles of our queer brothers and sisters who struggle to reconcile their faith.”
