A recent SL Metro issue featured for its cover story Russ Gorringe, a Salt Lake City gay Mormon who underwent years of therapy in an attempt to change his sexual orientation.

After many years of undergoing therapy and serving as Evergreen leader, Russ attempted to commit suicide. He found joy and peace only after accepting himself as a gay man.

According to the Metro story, Russ "is the subject of the documentary Marriages, Hopes, Realities and has been interviewed by the Deseret Morning News. He works heavily with the spiritual group Reconciliation, geared for those raised with LDS teachings. He says he hopes people keep God in their life when they come out."

"I love being gay," says Russ. "It's brought me great joy."
