Statement of Candidacy for Executive Director October 2007 Ballots have been sent to all current Affirmation members. Due to a production error, the cover letter sent along with the ballots says that the term of office is January 1 to December 31, 2007. The term is January 1 to December 31, 2008. Dear Affirmation Family: I will be a candidate for Executive Director for the 2008 term. My time thus far as Executive Director has been both rewarding and trying, but my appreciation of and dedication to Affirmation remains strong. There are many unfinished projects to attend to and new work that needs to be begun. Most of all, I feel that Affirmation itself remains a vital organization and that I have the experience and commitment to ensure that its vital mission continues. I would also like to take this opportunity to announce that I intend 2008 to be my last term as Executive Director. Not only is it vital to have continuity and experience, but it is also important to cultivate new leaders with fresh energy and new ideas. One of my goals for this year will be to cultivate new leaders for Affirmation. Rest assured that I will not "retire," however! I look forward to be involved in the leadership of Affirmation for years to come. I ask for your support for 2008 as Affirmation moves into its fourth decade of operation and I ask that you support Affirmation by becoming involved in your chapters and at the national level as well.
