From the creator of the national and Off-Broadway hit, Confessions of a Mormon Boy (“An exceptional achievement to rank beside the best of the solo genre.” – LA Times) comes Steven Fales’ new cabaret confection, Mormon American Princess. Fales confesses that “God has seen me through excommunication, divorce, prostitution and drugs, now we’re working on narcissism—and it’s not going well!” Mormon American Princess is an exploration of our self-absorbed society using the multi-talented Fales as a microcosm. But with the help of his new Higher Power (She’s fabulous!), he’s beginning to see the light as he continues to put Utah on the map.

This special cabaret fireside includes original songs like “The Excommunication Polka,” “Cult Rap,” and “You and Utah,” as well as such standards as “I Don’t Know How To Love Him,” “Fifty Percent,” “Son of a Preacher Man,” “If He Walked Into My Life,” “Never Met A Man I Didn’t Like,” and outrageous medleys and parodies of favorite Broadway show tunes including Steven’s popular “Mormon Broadway Medley” and his signature song “Mormon American Princess.” Fales’ music is directed by Kevin Christensen, who has the distinction of having worked both at the Tabernacle and the Tavernacle. The show recently enjoyed sold-out runs in San Diego and San Francisco and will be playing for gay pride week in NYC in June.

Steven Fales' acclaimed one-man play Confessions of a Mormon Boy has played over 500 times in major cities across the country. It will also be featured at the International Dublin Gay Theater Festival in May. A break-out hit of the 2004 NY International Fringe Festival (Overall Excellence Award for Solo Show) and directed by Tony Award-winner Jack Hofsiss, the play went on to a highly acclaimed Off-Broadway run at the SoHo Playhouse (NY Outer Critics Award Nomination for Outstanding Solo Performance). Fales’ book Confessions of a Mormon Boy (Alyson Books, 2006) was a 2007 Lambda Literary Award Finalist. An international tour and documentary film is currently in development.

Steven is currently working on a new book called Oxy-Mormon Memoirs, the plays Sacred Strain and The First Wife's Tale, and a new musical The Order. A classically trained actor, Fales received his M.F.A. in acting from the University of Connecticut. He trained at the Boston Conservatory and received his B.F.A. from Brigham Young University. An excommunicated Mormon, Fales lives in Salt Lake City where he takes an active role in raising his two children. He is the founder of Mormon Boy Productions, LLC at www.mormonboy.com.
