Mormon Group to Hold Benefit Concert
The Foundation for Reconciliation to Raise Awareness about Homeless LGBT Youth

August 2009

The Foundation for Reconciliation, a group which is asking the LDS Church to re-examine rhetoric and attitudes toward gay and lesbian people, will hold a benefit concert to benefit Volunteers of America, Utah's Homeless Youth Resource Center. Our objective is to raise awareness that 43% of Salt Lake City's homeless youth are LGBTQ.

Titled “Home At Last,” the concert will be Monday, September 21, at 7:00 pm at the Holladay United Church of Christ. Renowned Mormon author Carol Lynn Pearson will give a reading. Her daughter Emily Pearson, who has helped raise awareness about gay Mormon issues, will sing.

The program includes representatives from the faith community along with well-known local musicians such as Barlow Bradford (former associate director of the Tabernacle Choir), Michael Chipman (professor of voice at the U of U and Westminster), Shane Jackman, Leraine Hortsmanhoff, Bill Green, and Peter & Mary Danzig.

Suggested donations for tickets are; $12 adults, $6 children/students and $30 family. All proceeds will be donated to Volunteers of America, Utah Homeless Youth Resource Center. We will also be collecting items for Utah's Homeless Youth Resource Center (See attachment for complete list).
